Ambassador club

Since its inception, the Seventh-day Adventist Youth Ministry Department has served young people through three main programs: Adventurer Club (ages 4–9), Pathfinder Club (ages 10–15), and Senior Youth/Young Adults (ages 16–30+). However, a gap has been identified for young people who complete the Pathfinder requirements. Many of them still want to remain connected to Pathfinder but do not yet feel ready to join the Senior Youth/Young Adults program. Since there is no established program specifically designed for this age group, several Divisions have created their own programs to meet their needs, such as Companion in Europe and Medical Brigade in the Inter-American and South American Divisions.

At the 2001 World Youth Leadership Convention, an important decision was made to charge the General Conference Youth Department with developing materials for a new level of youth ministry aimed at young people aged 16–21 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The result of this decision was the development of the Ambassador Club curriculum.

The Ambassador Club is not designed to replace Adventist Youth Service (AYS). Instead, it is intended to strengthen and complement the existing Senior Youth/Young Adult Ministry. The program provides a structured and organized opportunity for young people aged 16–21 to become actively involved in church life, ministry, and service at both local and global levels. The curriculum also recognizes and appreciates the contribution of the curriculum development team, writers, and World Divisions that participated in preparing the materials.

Mission, Aim, and Motto

Mission Statement

The Ambassador Club is an organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church dedicated to meeting the spiritual, social, and lifestyle needs of youth ages 16-20’s by challenging them to experiencing and sharing a personal relationship with Christ, developing a lifestyle fitting their belief system and vocational interest, and providing them with an adequate venue for wholesome development of lifelong friendships.

Aim

The Advent Message to All the World in My Generation

My relationship to Jesus Christ is of such a nature that it compels me to share with anyone will receive it, the gospel—the good news of His soon return.

Motto

The Love of Christ Compels Me

I am drawn to Him by His exemplary life, the symbolic act of His crucifixion, His conquering resurrection, and His promise of an earth made new in the pattern of the original creation. The closer I find myself to Him, the closer I find myself identifying with the needs of my fellow human beings.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Ambassador Club are to help Senior Youth understand that God and His Church love and value them, while encouraging them to discover and use their God-given talents in fulfilling the Gospel mission. The program emphasizes personal salvation as the highest priority and encourages youth to express their love for God through outreach and service activities. It also helps them develop a deeper appreciation of God’s creation through adventure and discovery, while providing opportunities to learn vocational skills and hobbies that can give them purpose and employment opportunities. In addition, the program promotes physical fitness and a drug-free lifestyle, develops leadership abilities, self-discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, and provides wholesome opportunities for young men and women to interact, build healthy friendships, and develop meaningful lifelong relationships.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the Ambassador Club is to prepare young people for leadership and service to humanity. The club is a distinct youth ministry program and is not an extension of the Pathfinder Club, Maxi-Pathfinders, or an AY Society. It has its own structure and does not follow the same program, symbols, or activities as Pathfinders. Instead, the Ambassador Club provides Senior Youth with an organized and structured environment where they can actively participate in church and community activities, discover their God-given talents, develop leadership skills, and explore their life vocation. Local clubs may choose their specific focus according to the needs and interests of their youth while remaining faithful to the overall mission of the Ambassador Club.

Membership

Membership in the Ambassador Club is open to youth from age 16 through their twenties who are willing to live according to the principles and guidelines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Senior Youth are generally divided into two ministries: Ambassadors (ages 16–21) and Young Adults (ages 22–30+). The Ambassador Club mainly focuses on youth aged 16–21, but the upper age limit is flexible so that young people in their twenties can also benefit from the club.
