Pathfinder Club

For those who are familiar with it, “Pathfindering” conjures up images of marching, camping, curious hobbies, bugs and bats. Enlarging their windows on the world and building a relationship with God are the dual objectives of this club, which is designed for children ages 10-15. With nearly 2 million members around the world, this Seventh-day Adventist Church-sponsored club accepts any youth who promises to abide by the Pathfinder Pledge and Law regardless of their church affiliation.

World Pathfinder Day is a special Sabbath dedicated to celebrating the Pathfinder ministry and the contributions of young people in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 2026, it falls on Saturday, September 19. The day is filled with singing, preaching, smiles, and Pathfinder spirit, emphasizing the mission of youth to serve God and their communities

Theme and Significance

The 2026 theme, “Speak Lord,” encourages Pathfinders to listen to God’s guidance and actively participate in His mission. This celebration also commemorates the 76th anniversary of Pathfinder club ministry, highlighting decades of youth engagement, spiritual growth, and community service

Leadership

The volunteer leadership attend special trainingLeadership

The volunteer leadership, skilled in a myriad of unusual abilities and interests are, first and foremost, strong believers in Jesus Christ and are sure of the road they are taking towards eternal life. They consider the Pathfinder club an experimental laboratory where growth and learning are synonymous with fun. Failure is not expected, but rather all activity becomes a tool for learning.   sessions to understand how to maximize the focus of the Adventurer Club in strengthening the parent-child bonds and enable both parents and children to understand their relationship to God.

Activities

The imagination of its leadership and members are the primary limiting factors of a club’s abilities. Activities encourage a range from community/civic service projects in their community and across the globe to nature and environmental conservation studies to camping and high adventure trips. Pathfindering challenges the unique talents of each member. Pathfindering is built on an age-specific curriculum of six levels along with approximately 350 specialized skill development topics covering arts and crafts, aquatics, nature, household arts, recreation, spiritual development, health, and vocational training. These often serve as a launching point for lifetime careers or hobbies.

Uniform

The Pathfinder uniform helps make the Pathfinder program real and visible. It is emblematic and representative of the worldwide club’s ideals and standards. Each individual member becomes a very vital representative of the organization, and wearing the uniform will help to provide a consciousness of belonging to a club that rightly represents the Adventist youth of today. If the uniform is worn as ordinary clothing it will have failed in its purpose.

The uniform should always be neat and clean. To wear it commonly for ordinary play or work lowers its dignity. The Pathfinder Club program should be so valuable to each member that the uniform will be acquired and worn with enthusiasm.

Uniforms should be worn:

  • At all Pathfinder meetings
  • At any public gathering when any or all act as: Messengers, Ushers, Guard of honor, Color Guards
  • On occasions as specified by Pathfinder director
  • At special Pathfinder services
  • While engaging in witness activity, or community service such as Ingathering, distributing food baskets, flowers, literature, etc.

Uniforms should not be worn:

  • By nonmembers
  • When engaged in selling or solicitation for personal profit, or for commercial or political purposes
  • At any time or place when it’s wearing discounts the organization or casts reflection upon the uniform, lowers its dignity and esteem, and makes it commonplace.

Why Achievement Classes?

Years ago, when your fathers and mothers were boys and girls, there came a call through the Spirit of Prophecy to organize all the young people into an united group that should help finish the task of carrying the Advent message to all the world in this generation. It was in response to these and other similar message s that the Adventist Youth Society came to be formed. And so the years have passed and the boys and girls of all lands have met and prayed and studied and gone out from their meetings to work. A great work has been accomplished, and the one-time small band has grown to number many thousands and to stretch round the world.

Philosophy

The Pathfinder Club is a Seventh-day Adventist program for youth aged 10–15 that develops their spiritual, physical, social, and leadership skills through activities, teamwork, adventure, and service. It brings youth, parents, and church members together, while encouraging positive values, strong relationships, and spiritual growth through good examples and a supportive environment.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Pathfinder Club are to help young people understand God’s love and the care of the church, discover and develop their God-given talents and abilities, and use them to serve God and others. The club seeks to make the personal salvation of every Pathfinder its highest priority, while encouraging spiritual growth through outreach activities and a closer relationship with God. It also promotes appreciation for God’s creation through outdoor activities, teaches useful skills and hobbies, encourages physical fitness and healthy habits, provides opportunities for leadership and teamwork, and supports the balanced development of the Pathfinder’s physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual life.

The Pathfinder Excellence Award recognizes individual achievement and outstanding performance over one year. It is given to Pathfinders who actively participate in the club, follow the Pathfinder Pledge and Law, demonstrate good leadership, responsibility, teamwork, punctuality, proper uniform standards, care for personal equipment, positive Christian behavior, and complete their current class and Honors. The award is selected by the Pathfinder Club executive committee and is usually presented during Pathfinder Day, Investiture, or a Conference camporee. It may be worn on the dress uniform for one year after receiving the award, provided the Pathfinder continues to meet the required standards.
